We have an exciting opportunity for a?Modelling Manager Alliance to join the Strategy & Regulation team supporting our new Storm Overflow Alliance team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water deliver its regulatory outcomes with regards to storm overflows, could this be you?

We are looking to expand our technical modelling function and capability to enable us to support our Storm Overflow Alliance and wider business to deliver key regulatory outputs. This is a key strategic role which offers the opportunity to support the business in delivering the Storm Overflow Discharge Reduction plan and any outputs of the Water Industry National Environment Plan in AMP8 and beyond.
You will have the opportunity to work with our alliance teams to develop and shape our technical assurance of scheme development and delivery to ensure we deliver high quality schemes which can be audited and assured.
Where you fit in:
As our Modelling Manager Alliance, you will lead, manage and develop a centre of excellence for modelling for the storm overflow alliance activities in AMP8 and beyond. You will use your extensive technical expertise, knowledge and relationships to influence and negotiate on matters relating delivery of the AMP8 storm overflow plan and identify risks and opportunities for YW and the alliance in relation to hydraulic modelling. You will ensure that the appropriate models are utilised to generate appropriate solutions for inland and coastal bathing storm overflows alongside network and treatment works storm overflows and work with the existing Modelling & Data team to ensure that examples of best practice are represented within the Yorkshire Water modelling specifications.
You will work to ensure optimal and effective solutions are deployed in line with the Storm Overflow Discharge Reduction Plan (SORDP) and Water Industry National Environment Plan (WINEP) drivers relating to all our storm overflow investment, business drivers and aspirations for nature-based/blue-green and surface water removal.
You will manage the development of standards for model quality, modelling methodology and model audit procedure for the storm overflow alliance activities and develop a modelling centre of excellence for the Alliance and ensure compliance with modelling methodology and specifications and regular audits. You will need to understand and assess risks of using models and their impact on solutions and clearly communicate these risks to others within the Storm Overflow Alliance Board, to assist in making strategic decisions in progressing the challenging delivery programme.
You will ensure the team delivers expert technical advice, support and governance, where required, to the storm overflow alliance partners and provide a clear and auditable trail for all models utilised, amended or updated by the alliance and have succinct and clear processes for movement of models.
What skills & qualifications you will need :-
Degree, professional qualification or appropriate experience.
Demonstrable long-standing interest in the Water and Environmental Management challenges, issues and developments in the sector and proven technical experience / industry knowledge
Proven track record in modelling and delivering projects to time, cost and quality and ability to coach others on technical issues.
Experience in undertaking modelling projects, especially from a scheme design / design & build perspective.
Experience in managing a team in the delivery of modelling projects.
Good understanding of environmental legislation matters
IT literate, numerate and has demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret environmental data.
Ability to provide technical leadership on investigations and projects and makes decisions on matters in their own and the teams work area.
Understanding of process and project management.
Ability to communicate effectively through written communications, presentations and in meetings.
Strong interpersonal skills, which are used to effectively influence and negotiate on environmental regulation matters.
Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
Able to prioritise own time and resources effectively.
Demonstrable experience of managing performance.
Proven planning ability - identifying priorities and actions to assist in delivering results.
Project/Programme management experience.

Membership of a relative professional body, preferably at Chartered status, although candidates who are currently working towards Chartership may be considered.
You may be required to travel to different operational sites, therefore you will require a valid UK driving licence with less than 6 points.
We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 1-2 days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
