Project Engineer - Water (6 Month Contract Self-Employed)

Do you have experience in a Project Engineering or Project Management position delivering mechanical projects in a process plant environment such as in the Water or Chemicals industries? Do you want to add to your pipeline of future work where you can work on major utilities projects with a specialist contractor?
This nationwide business originally began as a consultancy working with the main water suppliers in the UK to provide specialist support, advice, and engineering services. After establishing themselves as one of the core players in the UK's Water industry, they have recently begun expanding a new part of the business focusing on project delivery and the provision of plant engineering, operations, and maintenance services to high-profile clients including one of Europe's largest FMCG companies.
In this contract position, there will initially be 6 months of work confirmed to support the delivery of 2 large pumping station projects for a major Water company in North England. As a Project Engineer for the main contractor, you will be responsible for:
1. Liaising with subcontractors, ensuring projects are delivered on-time and in-budget.
2. Regularly reporting on project progress covering costs and adherence to deliverables.
The ideal candidate will have gained previous experience in a Project Engineering/Project Delivery position where they have been involved with mechanical projects in a process plant environment (e.g. Chemicals, Water, Pharma, etc.) or alternatively will have strong experience specifically with pump installation projects.
The role:
* 6 month contract working self-employed, with the potential for an extension of the duration.
* Monitoring costs and project deliverables.
* Reporting back on project progress to all stakeholders.
* Liaising with subcontractors, ensuring works are carried out in a timely and safe manner.
* Maintaining a project risk register.
* Carrying out technical inspections to ensure projects are delivered in adherence to specifications.
* Providing support where needed with any technical issues during delivery.
The person:
* Previous experience in a Project Engineering/Project Management position.
* Coming from a Mechanical Engineering background.
* Experience either in a Process environment (e.g. Water, Pharma, Chemicals) or with Pump projects.
* Full UK driving license.
