Job summary
King's College Hospital has an exciting opportunity to join their in-house Security Department. We are looking to recruit two highly motivated personnel who are looking to develop their skills and can proactively contribute in a sometimes very demanding environment. The Security Officer posts will work a 24/7 shift pattern which attracts a salary of £36565 - £40015 per annum inclusive of HCA's + 25% shift allowance dependent on experience and abilities.
You should ideally have experience of working in a security role, with an understanding of CCTV, alarm systems etc. You must be physically fit with good communication skills, along with the personality and experience to relate to people in all situations. You will be expected to exercise control and restraint techniques, for which full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job
To work as part of the King's College Hospital security team providing a high profile, visible, uniformed presence to the general public and the hospital's patients & staff, thereby providing positive reassurance to all persons. Fulfilling all duties and performing to agreed standards in accordance with the Trust's Policies. To be primarily employed on the Denmark Hill campus working a twenty-four hour shift based pattern.

Job responsibilities
1. Your primary duty is to ensure the safety, security & welfare of Trust personnel, other stakeholders and Trust assets at Kings College Hospital. To promote a safe environment and to both reduce the fear of crime and mitigate opportunities for criminal activity by providing a high profile, visible presence.
2. To conduct patrols and provide escorts as directed by the Trust Security Management Team. To respond to any security incident within an agreed time frame and to attend at medical emergencies to provide support and assist medical staff including, where necessary, the appropriate method of restraint within the context and confines of the Law of England and Wales.
3. To liaise with emergency services and the Trusts Works Department to assist them in pursuit of their To work as part of the Fire Response Team, liaising with Trust departments and the FireBrigade as appropriate, in order to minimise the risk to the Trust during fire incidents.
5. To staff the hospitals Security Control Room; to monitor and respond, in line with Trust policy, procedure and guidelines, both the alarm and CCTV systems. Ensure all of the aforementioned equipment is fully operational and that any faults are reported immediately.
6. To use designated powers & policies when intervening at incidents, whilst deterring, and preventing crime and other anti-social behaviour. To undertake, as appropriate, necessary tasks and risks associated in restraining/detaining individuals.
7. To promote a pro-security culture within the Trust encouraging staff and visitors to accept shared responsibility for security. Ensuring that security incidents/breaches are detected and reported. To actively seek information/intelligence associated with criminal offences committed and to identify suspects and trends.
8. To investigate and record security incidents / breaches in a fair, objective and professional manner. To assist the Trust in ensuring that appropriate sanctions are applied and to minimise/mitigate further incidents by ensuring preventive or remedial action takes place.
9. To maintain the hospitals car parking systems and to enforce the Trusts parking policies.
10. As and when required, to attend court in order to give evidence in relation to any incident within the post holders personal knowledge, or in which the post holder has any involvement.
11. To ensure that all national and local Health & Safety requirements are met and maintained, whilst actively pursuing and reinforcing the Trusts policies in relation to Equal Opportunities and Diversity legislation.
12. To comply with all of the Trusts and local security policies, procedures and guidelines.
13. To support risk management for the Directorate and the Trust by identifying, implementing maintaining controls, contingencies and action.
