We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Prof. Christopher Douglas at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. This is a fixed term position for up to 33 months, funded by the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council, starting between 1 April 2025 and 1 October 2025.
The successful candidate will be part of a research group responsible for carrying out research as part of the EPSRC grant "Computable Manifolds". The research group is developing a computable theory of manifolds based on a higher-algebraic framework at the intersection of quantum topology, quantum algebra, and combinatorial and computable topology. The postdoc will have opportunities for independent research and collaboration with other members of the Mathematical Institute, including informal mentorship of students in the group.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Applicants will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in pure mathematics, possessing sufficient specialist knowledge to work within established research programmes.
2. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
