This post is for a Consultant Physician in General (Internal) Medicine and Rheumatology. The post holder will have joint General Medical and Rheumatology responsibilities. This is a full-time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). Applicants who wish to work less than full time are welcome to apply. Opportunities for remote working will be considered when constructing a job plan.
The post holder will demonstrate a firm commitment to clinical governance, clinical audit, and risk management by developing systems to ensure the highest standards of patient care are achieved and maintained.
The post holder will join two full-time consultant General Physicians/Rheumatologists and four pure Rheumatologists.
The post holder will have responsibility for medical inpatients in a newly-built block of Frimley Park Hospital opening in January 2025, joining the two other Physician/Rheumatologists on a rotational basis.
The post holder will have outpatient clinics on and off site and will undertake a share of the administrative duties associated with patient care, the running of the rheumatology department, and the directorate.
The post will also involve teaching and supervision of junior staff, with involvement in teaching programmes within Frimley Park and local GP surgeries.

The post holder will be part of the general medical on-call rota, which is currently 1:8 weekends. The block will also house patients under the care of respiratory and renal teams, allowing close multi-disciplinary collaboration. The post holder will play an important part in developing this service, particularly as Frimley Park is moving to a newly-built hospital site by 2030, where the post holder will have the opportunity to engage in the transformational plan associated with this project.
Audit is carried out on one half day per month throughout the hospital. Study leave and a study budget are provided for continuing professional development.
The appointee will have access to a medical secretary, dedicated office space, and full IT facilities, including a trust laptop allowing remote working via the EPIC electronic patient record, which has been in use since July 2022.
