Role Overview
As Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the Young Learners Centre, overseeing the implementation of welfare, academic, leisure, and transfers programmes. You will ensure that the centre operates according to International House London’s policies and procedures, delivering high-quality services to our students, group leaders, agents, and staff. The Centre Manager provides leadership, support, and direction to the centre staff while maintaining good relationships with the host centre.
Location & Dates
* Frensham: 9th July – 13th August, International House Frensham, Frensham Heights School (8-17 year olds)
* Tavistock: 9th July – 20th August, International House Tavistock, Mount Kelly School (12-17 year olds)
Payment
£1239.40 per week including holiday pay + paid induction
Contract
1–6 weeks, depending on operational needs. The role requires up to 48 hours per week, typically spread over a 6 day week, with 1 full day off per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Centre & Staff Management: Lead and manage the centre’s day-to-day operations, including regular meetings with staff, managing rotas, and overseeing performance management.
* Student Welfare & Safety: Ensure the safety and welfare of all students, maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
* Communication: Hold daily assemblies, respond to student disciplinary issues, liaise with welfare staff, and maintain communication with Head Office, parents, and agents.
* Arrival/Departure Management: Ensure smooth arrivals and departures, managing the transfer day process in collaboration with the Centre Administrator and Head Office.
* Finance: Oversee the centre’s budget, including managing petty cash and departmental spending.
* External Clients: Liaise with host centres, group leaders, agents, and parents, ensuring smooth communication and operational procedures.
Essential Requirements
* GCSEs (minimum 5 A*-C, including English and Maths).
* Proficient English speaker.
* IT literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Experience in ELT management (residential setting).
* Experience in financial management and cash handling.
* Team leadership and people management experience.
* Strong time management and organisational skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and client-focused skills.
Desirable
* CELTA/DELTA qualification.
* Experience working with mixed nationality students.
* Residential experience.
* Ability to speak other languages.
* Safeguarding training.
