This vacancy is for an Apprentice Fire & Security Engineer based in Coventry.
Fire & Security Engineers design, install, commission and maintain electronic systems in and outside simple and complex premises to protect individuals, homes and properties from risk and danger.
At City Building Engineering Services Fire & Security ‘CBES F&S’, our Apprentice Security Engineer Progression program lasts for three years and combines academic study with work–based experience.
CBES F&S has many years of electronic and mechanical security industry experience, spanning across all security and fire disciplines. The main office is situated in Oldham, Manchester, with additional offices located around the UK.
Our offices are positioned within minutes of the key motorway networks with easy access to various regions around the UK. This enables our engineers to provide a swift response to our customers' projects and service requirements.
When not studying, the apprentice engineer will spend the balance of their time with experienced engineers, including working in environments such as Retail, Distribution, Health care, and Motor showrooms.
Working alongside experienced CBES engineers, by the time the apprentice reaches the third year of the program, they will have gained knowledge, experience, and responsibility in managing, testing, commissioning, and submitting project documentation. This includes technical handover aspects, safety management, and system client training.
This program requires the apprentice to be highly organized and self–driven, with the ability to manage their time well. They should be flexible in their approach to work to maximize their chances of success, and they should be comfortable working alone or as part of a team.
The apprentice will be comfortable spending time working away from home and working night shifts while working on projects and attending study through our academic partners or while on placements across CBES.

Key Accountabilities
* Working to understand and deliver British Standards practices.
* Carry out the installation, service, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of Access Control, Intruder Alarm, and CCTV systems, including knowledge of I.P networking for these systems.
* Additional role requirement: Knowledge and experience of fire alarm & detection, fire suppression, and warden call/care call systems, including installation, service, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
* General: Client Satisfaction: Completing daily work sheets (electronic systems), time sheets, and job reports to a high standard. Dedication to the on–call rota.
Note: Call out will be dependent on department placement requirements (Install/service).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* The candidate should have the following qualifications: Maths and Science (preferably physics) at GCSE (4/C or above), as well as English at GCSE (4/C or above) or National 5 (Scotland).
* Assessments undertaken by the training centre focusing on numeracy and literacy will be carried out to ascertain the suitability of the candidate for the apprenticeship course.
* Alternatively, you may already be experienced within a technical role and hold a minimum of an HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
* The ability to attain and retain learned information, punctuality, presentability, and high levels of communication are key qualities for the candidate to be successful in the trainee role.
* Must have a driver’s license.
