The Service Manager position is a pivotal role within PMC, responsible for managing the service department and staff as well as overseeing activities related to customer service. The department, and therefore this role are heavily focused on repairs to a variety of electronics and loudspeaker products. The day to day of the role primarily encompasses a senior engineer position, including the repairs to a number of service items. The service manager handles a significant number of service jobs, and as the team expands will be focused on the technically challenging repair activities and service calls. They will need to provide guidance to the entire team with their technical knowledge, as well as lead training of new tech recruitments.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the service team (small team of 3)
* Ensure the service department operates efficiently
* Provide technical guidance relating to product servicing to internal PMC staff as well as external distributors and retailers
* Respond to service technical enquiries both internal and external
* Fault find and/or repair of audio electronics
* Control electronics
* Fault find and/or repair of loudspeakers
* Basic Programming & testing of active electronics
* Safety testing of various electrical equipment (i.e. PAT testing)
* Ensure Test equipment is suitably maintained and meets department's requirements
* Occasional field service repairs (UK) as required
* Report monthly service department performance, arising issues and future requirements/planning to Technical manager
* Repair of PMC, Bryston, and other 3rd party equipment
* Process returned parts for credit
* Process returned finished goods for credit
* Occasional test product for marketing and sales departments
* Occasional assistance to manufacturing facility with technical issues
Qualifications:
The service manager post holder is desired to have:
* Electrical Engineering qualifications HND or degree level
* Knowledge & experience of audio electronics repair
* Experience using audio test equipment such as Clio, Klippel, Lindos, oscilloscope, etc.
* Excellent hearing plus experience in subjective listening testing
* Knowledge of computer aided design & simulation software
* Computer literate in standard Microsoft software as well as ability to learn company database systems
* Ability to write concise reports
* There will be travel to various PMC sites expected weekly, as well as occasionally to clients, and as such a driving license and access to a car for transport will be required
