Job overview
Cheshire and Merseyside Adult Gender Identity Collaborative (CMAGIC) is a new NHS England pilot, establishing how Gender Incongruence can be best treated within a Primary Care setting. We are seeking a specialist nurse to support the delivery of this care and they will work closely with our MDT, local GP's, relevant partner agencies and of course directly with service users.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in developing not only a new service, but a new way of delivering care for a disadvantaged service user group. The role will likely involve travel, so a car user is essential.
Main duties of the job
To provide direct, clinical nursing care to the service users of the Cheshire and Merseyside Adult Gender Identity Collaborative (CMAGIC). This will involve direct and indirect care of services users of CMAGIC and an ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a wider team is essential. To be able to manage a caseload of patients and support patients throughout their journey.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Provide direct clinical nursing care to CMAGIC service users
* Obtain bloods for routine screening
* Deliver deep Intramuscular injections of GRNH analogues in line with clinical standards and profiles
* Interview, assess and monitor the wellbeing of service users under direct care of CMAGIC utilising biopsychosocial principles
* Support the delivery of treatment from colleagues
* Understand role of, engage and refer to partner agents as appropriate
* Maintain up to date knowledge of clinical issues and developments in the treatment of Gender Incongruence
* Maintain record keeping in line with professional and Trust standards
* Be an active member of MDT
* Caseload management
* Engage in regular supervision and PACE reviews
* Undertake and participate in research and audit as relevant to role and service objectives
* Be aware of and adhere to Trust policies and procedures which are applicable to the role
* Complete risk assessments and ensure that risks are identified and reported as they arise
* Undertake appropriate training and act as a clinical mentor within the service. Support students and other learners in achieving learning outcomes by providing a learning environment with opportunities for observation and training
Professional Responsibilities
* Maintain professional registration and adhere at all times to the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct
* Ensure accurate and contemporaneous record keeping with due regard to confidentiality
* Deal with difficult situations in relation to Child Protection/ Vulnerable adults and act according to Trust policy and current legislation
* Undertake Trust mandatory training as required, ensuring compliance
Person specification
Qualifications
* First level Registered Nurse/Midwife
* Ability to be a clinical mentor (ENB 998/997) or equivalent post registration degree level module or willingness to undertake
* Completion of Trust STRIVE/THRIVE course
* Working towards Gender Identity Healthcare qualifications via RCP
Knowledge/Experience
* Previous experience of working with Gender Incongruent service users
* Aware of protocols for administering of GRNH analogues
* Use of EMIS as a reporting tool
