Catastrophe Modeller
Aon is currently recruiting an experienced Catastrophe Modeller to join our Global Re Specialty (GRS) Analytics team in London.
Aon's Catastrophe Analytics team is the best regarded of its kind in Europe. The team sits within Aon Reinsurance Solutions and provides clients (UK insurance companies, syndicates and reinsurers) with advice on their exposures to natural disasters such as windstorms, floods and earthquakes.
Comprised of enthusiastic and team-oriented individuals, the GRS team is continuously looking for ways to evolve our clients’ understanding and view of catastrophe risk.
What the day will look like
* Be the client analytics lead on reinsurance analytics and lead the interaction across multiple cat and non-cat analytics projects and placements for clients.
* Lead client portfolios analysis using catastrophe analytics and apply reinsurance structures to these portfolios. Lead client interaction on pressing topics across Facultative and Commercial risk catastrophe analysis.
* Lead conversations with reinsurers, brokers and actuaries to understand exposures, review modelling results, explain modelling limitations and resolve issues promptly.
* Participate in corporate practice groups and committees related to cat modelling and cat risk management.
* Advise clients on potential incurred losses, post-event and on risk management basis.
* Contribute to the suite of proprietary analytical tools developed by Aon.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
* 3+ years of experience in analytics for insurers, reinsurers, or similar financial services.
* BSc or higher qualification ideally in finance, statistics, science or equivalent.
* Catastrophe modelling experience with vendor models (RMS, AIR, JBA, CoreLogic).
* Exposure Management.
* Catastrophe Model Validation and Evaluation.
* Strong communication skills (speaking, listening, and writing).
* Strong computer skills in MS Office suite (skills in programming and machine learning are highly beneficial).
* Tableau or PowerBI experience.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills complemented by a solid grounding working with and interpreting statistics.
* Good attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to prioritise work within a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
* Highly motivated and strong work ethics.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts.
* Ability to lead teams and be flexible in working to meet deadlines across multiple projects and clients.
* Ability to approach problem-solving in a practical and innovative manner.
* Ability to maintain compliance with professional standards, where applicable, as well as company-wide quality initiatives.
