About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to take a leading role in delivering a pipeline of new-build solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This role involves managing projects from acquisition through to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract signature, working closely with the construction team to ensure successful project execution on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the commercial management of a project pipeline, ensuring the interests of the company and external funders are protected from planning approval through to commissioning.
* Lead tender processes and contract negotiations with EPC, Independent Connection Providers (ICP), and other key contractors. Manage milestone payments and contractual obligations, including liquidated damages and retentions.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Development, Engineering, and Construction Management) and external contractors to:
* Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards, complying with all relevant statutory, health & safety, and planning requirements.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including contractors, landowners, local communities, and network operators.
* Ensure compliance with Ofgem regulations and connection requirements for smooth transition into post-commissioning operations.
* Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, work programs, risk assessments, and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Proactively identify and manage project risks, dependencies, and changes in scope, ensuring contingency plans are in place.
* Oversee contractor documentation submissions, ensuring compliance with contractual schedules.
* Facilitate the handover process, ensuring all outstanding issues, defects, and performance obligations are addressed at Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) stage.
* Work closely with the ESG team to ensure environmental, social, and governance policies and commitments are met, including contractor pre-qualification, biodiversity net gain assessments, and ecological liaison.
* Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and cost benchmarks for all construction projects.
* Collaborate with the asset management team to create comprehensive handover documentation, ensuring seamless transition into post-commissioning operations.
* Take commercial responsibility for projects post-commissioning, ensuring all contractual obligations are met and facilitating the smooth transfer of assets to operational management.
Additional Responsibilities:
As part of a dynamic and fast-paced team, the role may involve additional duties as required, including site visits to development and construction projects. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree or diploma in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, civil) or a related discipline.
* Project management qualification (PRINCE2 or equivalent).
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing construction projects, preferably in utility-scale renewable energy.
* Strong negotiation, risk management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of ownership.
* Proficiency in project management tools (MS 365, Microsoft Project, or equivalent).
* Self-motivated, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
