Right now we're seeking a detail orientated, number loving individual to take the role of Operational Accountant in our team at Bishopbriggs. If you are pro-active and eager to contribute we would love to hear from you, So, what's the role? Are you a numbers whiz with a passion for driving financial performance? We’re looking for an Operational Accountant to join our team at Marley Roofing in Bishopbriggs. In this role, you’ll work closely with commercial and contracts managers, helping them understand how operational decisions impact financial performance and driving improvements along the way. You’ll be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and presenting MCS accounts, forecasts, and budgets, as well as keeping product costings accurate and up to date. A big part of the job will be coordinating the annual budget process, making sure all deadlines are met, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs. You’ll also manage the plant fixed asset register, ensure accurate financial reporting for month-end and year-end, and oversee key accounting tasks like balance sheet reconciliations, journal postings, and accruals. On top of that, you’ll analyze sales and margin reports to understand how pricing, products, and customer mix affect performance. There will also be plenty of ad hoc analysis and projects to get involved in. You’ll support the office team with payroll systems and always look for ways to streamline processes and minimize waste using lean principles. Experience: Construction industry experience is a plus but definitely not a must. Tech-Savvy: Mastery of SAGE accounting software. Detail-Oriented: Thrives in a fast-paced environment without compromising on accuracy. People Skills: Excellent communication and customer service abilities, people management experience is not essential but is advantageous Discreet & Judicious: Demonstrates excellent judgment, adaptability, and versatility. Independent Operator: Proactive and has a strong initiative. Tax Knowledge: Familiar with VAT, CIS, and payroll taxes. Desirable Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified /part-qualified are desirable but not essential we are willing to train someone on the job. What can we offer?
