CNC MACHINIST Odqa Renewable Energy Technologies is a fast-growing venture capital-backed renewable energy engineering spin out from the University of Oxford's Thermofluids Institute and Said Business School. THE ROLE: Odqa is now at a very exciting stage and looking to take the next step in its evolution. We are growing and have a fantastic opportunity for a CNC Machinist to join our team. This role will report directly into our Senior CNC Machinist/Inspector and will primarily be responsible for setting and operating computer numerical controlled (CNC) mills and lathes. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Experience in setting and operating CNC mills and lathes. Examination of machines to become familiar with tooling set up, changing tool offsets to keep dimensions within specified drawing tolerances. Inform of any machinery or material problems, which could slow down or stop production. Maintain the work areas in a safe, clean and orderly manner, adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policy and safe working practices. Support the writing and review processes for the relevant risk assessments. Provide training to other team members where applicable. Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the Odqa Way and defined policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Experience of working within an R&D and/or Manufacturing environment. Ability to use measuring equipment and interpret drawings. Experience working with and setting/programming a number CNC machines and controls and being able to problem solve using own initiative. Use of gauges and instruments. Working knowledge of mathematics within a manufacturing environment. Strong communication skills Attention to detail with good judgement. Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks and priorities, whilst remaining calm and productive under pressure. A team player, who works well within a close-knit team of diverse backgrounds and experience, who can work equally as well individually. A desire to learn with a growth mindset.
