Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects, ensure competitive pricing, and support our bid process primarily for structural, piping, and fabrication projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare analytical cost estimates and tenders from receipt of enquiry to tender submission on various build projects.
* Analyze drawings, specifications, and proposals to determine project requirements.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure prices obtained from external suppliers or sub-contractors accurately reflect the works required.
* Participate in design development to assess buildability, materials, innovation, and cost-effectiveness of proposals and provide high-level pricing information early in the tender for optioneering and budgeting.
* Coordinate all costs and compile quotation documents and packages for customer submissions.
* Write tender documents and prepare tender packs.
* Prepare post-bid submissions, organize responses to requests for clarification.
* Research and gather data on materials, transport, equipment, and labor costs.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material quantity take-offs, labor rates, and equipment costs.
* Aware of contractual terms relating to cost terms, particularly for NEC contracts.
* Assess project risks and develop contingency plans.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
* Participate in pre-tender meetings and bid reviews.
* Maintain and update historical cost data and estimating software.
* Familiar with lump sum, cost-reimbursable, cost-plus, unit price, and target cost estimating.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical/structural/civil Engineering or related field.
* Extensive experience in successfully leading Cost Estimating services on large-scale complex projects, programs, and portfolios in an engineering or technical environment, preferably in the nuclear industry.
* Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.

The job holder will report to the Managing Director. The role involves travel around UK offices, manufacturing locations, and intermittent travel to the head office in Lyon.
