Investigator - Analytical Science
This is a central role based at the GSK Worthing site, within the Global Manufacturing Science & Technology (gMSAT) organisation. We are looking for a motivated and experienced analytical scientist to work as part of our gMSAT Analytical Science team to lead and support business critical, global projects requiring analytical expertise and characterisation. This position offers the opportunity to work across a range of analytical methods and technologies, including state-of-the-art LC-MS systems, whilst delivering impactful data across the portfolio including small molecules, large molecules, vaccines and oligonucleotides.

In this role you will:
* Be accountable for the rapid development and implementation of mass-spec methods for a variety of analytical applications including but not limited to; peptide mapping, high-throughput screening and impurity identification.
* Maintain a scientifically current, state-of-the-art laboratory environment, demonstrating technical competence across multiple analytical techniques, including troubleshooting and performance optimization.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of a high performing team through coaching and mentorship and drive continuous improvement which may involve line management of team members.
* Collaborate effectively with the Analytical Science UK Hub team, Small Molecule Process Science team, wider global MSAT, and liaise with Global Supply Chain (GSC) and R&D colleagues and stakeholders to effectively deliver business priorities across modalities at pace.
* Adhere to and maintain high standards of safety, GLP, sustainability, housekeeping, data integrity, and EHS requirements, and take leadership roles in safety, regulatory, compliance and strategic projects as required.

* Graduate qualification in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field (BSc/MSc/MChem).
* Strong analytical science and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on complex investigations.
* Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision.
* Excellent organizational skills and the flexibility to work at pace in a dynamic environment.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
The following characteristics will enable the successful candidate to deliver impact in role:
* PhD, or a Master's degree with significant industry experience, in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field, with a strong focus on mass spectrometry.
* Proficiency in chromatographic method development and troubleshooting.
* Experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry platforms e.g., QTOF, Orbitrap.
* Familiarity with data analysis tools and software, including Byos, Waters Connect, Empower, XCalibur and other LC-MS processing tools.
* Expertise in protein and/or oligonucleotide analysis e.g., post-translational modifications, impurities.
* Hands-on experience of sample digestion and purification techniques for biologics.
