My client is one of the leaders in the manufacture and export of Polyurethane Foam Making Equipment.
Key aspects of the service engineer role include:
* Essential - strong electrical fault-finding experience & electrically qualified. To have a Minimum of a NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Engineering (HNC is desirable but not essential). Relevant electrical engineering qualification and knowledge of current electrical wiring regulations 17/18th.
* Essential - PLC fault finding experience - (Beckhoff or Siemens experience would be advantageous).
* Experience of fault-finding PLC based systems, input/output check.
* Essential - knowledge of PLC networks, with familiarity checking networks, profibus/ethernet/ether cat.
* Knowledge of instrumentation - mainly mass flowmeters, pressure switches/transducers, temperature probes and valves.
* Knowledge of variable speed drives/inverters. Mitsubishi is an advantage but if you have used any of the other manufacturers then the same principles apply.
* Essential - experience with electrical installations. Trunking, tray work, cable runs.
* You would not be required to do this on site, but you must advise the customer and supervise their electricians of how and where the best location during the installations.
Details of role for site work
The role is suited to a candidate that is willing to travel Worldwide - 90% of the clients business is overseas installing and commissioning polyurethane foam production equipment.
Initially, the role would be officed based and travelling with another engineer for training. Once training is complete, the candidate would be expected to travel alone or with a team on larger projects.
In between overseas work they would be office based to assist on the testing and preparation for new equipment being exported.
Experience needed
* Sound mechanical and pneumatic appreciation is required for this role – much of our equipment is based on pumps & conveyors – an understanding of this equipment or a willingness to learn is expected.
* Experience of working on bespoke machinery as a service engineer would be very advantageous in this role, as would experience working in the chemical industry.
* Experience of working on PLC controlled machinery and having exposure to working with various PLC platforms, ideally Siemens.
