The Experienced Procurement Construction Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, supplies and services required for the construction of various projects.
This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective completion of construction projects by identifying and procuring quality resources at competitive prices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement procurement strategies to support construction projects, in line with company goals and objectives.
• Identify project requirements and conduct market research to source potential suppliers/vendors for materials, supplies and services.
• Working closely with Category Managers and ensuring spend is prioritised with Tier 1 preferred suppliers to maximise Value For Money and deliver spend related rebates
• Monitor and maintain supplier performance, identifying and addressing any issues or concerns that may impact project delivery.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, leveraging these relationships to obtain the best possible pricing and lead times.
• Work closely with project and contract managers and the LDE division to effectively manage procurement activities and ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Evaluate and assess supplier performance against predetermined metrics, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Keep up to date with industry trends, market changes and technological advancements, and adapt procurement strategies accordingly.
• Resolve any invoice discrepancies, working collaboratively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in the development and implementation of cost reduction initiatives.
• Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities and performance to senior management.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement within the construction industry.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.
• Experience with contract negotiation and management.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Team player with excellent organisational and time management skills.
