Job summary
This vacancy has arisen for a self-motivated and enthusiastic UK Health and Care Professionals Council registered health care scientist to join the management team of this dynamic and internationally respected External Quality Assessment (EQA) programme based within the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Working closely with the Centre Manager the post holder will manage daily operations of this high quality ISO 17043 accredited external quality assessment department, providing EQA programmes in the field of clinical immunology, immunochemistry & Allergy.
The duties of this post are varied and interesting with the successful individual expected to use their own initiative and work without close supervision but still be able to work as part of a team. The individual will be expected to promote good working relationships with both internal and external national and international agencies.
About Us
UK NEQAS IIA provides immunology and allergy External Quality Assessment (EQA) to over 3000 laboratories in over 50 countries. The aims of the department are primarily educational and standardisation of both UK and international clinical laboratories undertaking immunology, immunochemistry & allergy testing. The EQA programmes provided are accredited to ISO 17043. There is an active R&D programme that includes developing EQA programmes within the field of immunology, immunochemistry & allergy.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking an ambitious candidate to join the scientific team at UK NEQAS IIA and help deliver a high quality EQA service to laboratories worldwide. The individual must hold a post graduate qualification in a biomedical science subject and must hold a current UK HCPC Registration.
The individual will have proven advanced theoretical knowledge, highly developed laboratory skills and a working knowledge of immunological techniques. They must have experience of presenting data to other scientific staff and be able to use their scientific knowledge to answer questions from a large audience of peers.
The individual must have a wide-ranging knowledge of statistical analysis of data and have significant experience of providing expert advice and guidance to senior managers and stakeholders to inform complex decision successful candidate will possess excellent leadership, supervisory and communication skills in order to resolve EQA performance issues related to individuals and clinical laboratories, promote the development of standardisation and harmonisation within national and international clinical laboratories in order to assist international organisations.

1. Fully registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist or an equivalent and relevant professional body.
2. Higher degree such as MSc in relevant subject and Management qualification or equivalent experience.
