Position Summary
Working in the Operations and Assurance team, this role provides essential support to the Chief Operating Officer and the Head of Operations in caretaking the charity's property portfolio. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, and working alongside the Operations Assistant, the role has responsibility for ensuring that the charity’s 12 premises (a mix of owned and rented properties) are safe, secure and well-maintained. Primarily responsible for undertaking general internal and external property maintenance, the role also involves coordinating with external contractors and overseeing the execution of pre-planned maintenance programmes.
Main Responsibilities
* Undertake regular inspections of all properties to ensure each premises is maintained in good order and to identify any maintenance needs.
* Under the direction of the Head of Operations, to carry out various maintenance works, including painting and decorating, basic general repairs, site maintenance and grounds maintenance, promptly and effectively to minimise business disruption.
* Address potential safety hazards immediately and report any significant issues to the Head of Operations.
* Advise the Head of Operations of any repairs requiring the attention of outside contractors.
* Liaise with external contractors to include arranging quotes, booking jobs, receiving contractors on-site, ensuring that safeguarding and health and safety procedures are adhered to, and inspect work on completion.
* Oversee the execution of pre-planned maintenance programmes, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
* Support all departments with ad hoc projects, to include arranging furniture for events and office moves.
* Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment and supplies necessary for property maintenance.
* Update property maintenance records using in-house and third party computer systems.
Duties
* Achieve the level of computer competency as required for the role.
* Participate in and contribute to the organisation’s activities, events and meetings.
* Undertake other duties which may be required by the organisation that are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the role.
Training
The organisation is committed to support continuous professional development (CPD). There is an expectation that the post holder will complete mandatory and role specific training within the probationary period and maintain a level of competence throughout their employment with us. * A good level of physical fitness due to the diverse and physically demanding nature of the job responsibilities, such as lifting and moving heavy objects.
* Access to a vehicle for work purposes.
* Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable but is not essential.
* This role requires a basic police check.
