St Francis Xavier’s College, founded in 1842, is a Catholic Converter Academy with a co-educational Sixth Form with a strong academic tradition and 1000 pupils across KS3/4. The Sixth Form has strong collaborative links with partner schools across the city.
The school is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, confident School Counsellor to join our friendly and committed team on a part time job share basis. We are seeking someone who can offer a high quality counselling service to our students and staff and is calm, proactive and cheerful. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential for this role. It is important for our school that you want to contribute to the growth and development of every member of our school community enabling them to flourish and live life in all its fullness.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
* Knowledge of a range of counselling and psychotherapy techniques.
* Excellent interpersonal and reflective listening skills, and a non-judgmental manner.
* Demonstrable experience in working with children and young people, preferably in educational settings.
* Ability to communicate with other professionals and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate effective service provision.
* Understanding the issues facing young people and the most common mental health concerns they face.
* Working knowledge of current legislation relating to mental health and working with children and young people.
