As part of the Product & Propositions development programme, you’ll develop skills in different work situations, contributing to the development and improvement of processes, products and services in your department.
Over the course of 2 years, you’ll rotate around the teams that look after our mortgage products and propositions. You’ll build your experience across the wide range of areas that help Nationwide remain one of the UK’s largest residential and buy-to-let mortgage lenders, with opportunities to learn about how we develop and price our products, understand the market and our customers, and ensure our policies and processes deliver good outcomes for our customers. You’ll work with a range of teams across the Society, from marketing teams to finance and credit risk, and will also have the option of studying toward role-related qualifications. Your skills and experience will prepare you for an Assistant Product Manager role or similar and help propel your career within Nationwide.
We’ll need you to build rewarding relationships across the organisation and externally to understand customer needs, resolve problems and support the delivery of the Society blueprint.
You’ll also attend development workshops and complete any set qualifications and training aligned to achieve your best.
Our Mortgages and Financial Wellbeing function has approximately 3,000 colleagues working towards our mission to provide the best mortgage service in the UK. When joining the Product & Propositions development programme, you’ll specifically operate across our Home and Landlord product teams which consist of Residential and Buy-to-let Mortgage experts who work with a wide range of teams to ensure we’re offering our customers the best products and services we can, whilst ensuring Nationwide meets its commercial objectives. The product & propositions teams are focused on anything and everything to do with the products and services we offer our customers, to make sure we attract and retain as many customers as we can.
Location
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week based at either our Swindon or Bournemouth office.
What you’ll be doing
On the Product & Propositions programme, you’ll develop towards the role of an Assistant Product Manager over a 2-year period gaining the knowledge, skills and network our Mortgages & Financial Wellbeing function requires.
The programme journey will focus on developing Mortgage Product knowledge across multiple teams/projects: Pricing, Product development, Data and insight, Policy and existing customer management. There will be opportunities to swap across the residential and buy-to-let teams, or even across to Retail product teams to give you a breadth of experience.
We’re flexible and can tailor placements to explore areas you’re interested in – from the more commercially focused pricing teams, to experts on policy or customer outcomes, or the teams that work more closely with our marketing colleagues to improve our customer journeys to attract and retain more customers.
To support your journey to become an Assistant Product Manager you’ll have the opportunity to gain role-related qualifications.
You’ll gain access to a bespoke 18-month learning journey to develop core business skills that complement role-specific development, and you’ll meet and work alongside a range of diverse like-minded individuals from across the organisation.

At Nationwide, we're making banking fairer, more rewarding and for the good of society. Unlike the banks we are owned by our members, not shareholders. That’s anyone who banks, saves or has a mortgage with us. Which means we can always focus on what’s best for them. It’s our fundamental difference.
You'll feel that difference when you join our Early Careers programmes. When you're inspired by fairer finances, passionate about making a meaningful impact, and truly care about customers, you're one of us. An advocate for positive change.
