OPTIMISE OUR NETWORKS FOR EVERYONE
If you're passionate about technology and driving innovation, our Radio Engineer Apprenticeship will be the perfect place to start your career. Grow your potential while supporting us on our mission in optimising all our sites and earn a starting salary of £30,000 whilst doing it.
Make things happen
As an apprentice, you'll begin by shadowing our expert team members to ensure you become comfortable with every aspect of the role. We regularly upgrade our sites to ensure they're meeting the network quality targets. Your role will include effective management of these ongoing cases to ensure we are working effectively to meet our targets. Day-to-day, you could be:
1. Creating radio optimisation plans and statistical analysis of our networks
2. Working on new site data build plans to meet quality targets
3. Co-ordinating with other teams to manage the delivery of these data builds according to timelines
With inclusivity at our hearts, we're 100% committed to having a workforce that represents every part of our society, so we're keen to hear from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances. The only barrier to applying would be if you didn't have the right to work in the UK and were unable to obtain it without our support.
What is involved with studying for an apprenticeship?
This apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to become skilled in your role, and combines on-the-job learning and academic study, where you'll spend approximately 20% of your working hours completing learning with one of our training providers. At the end of the programme, you'll receive a nationally recognised qualification.
Who we are
The UK's fastest broadband network. The nation's best-loved mobile brand. And, one of the UK's biggest companies too. Diverse, high performing teams - jam packed with serious talent. Together, we offer the UK more choice and better value, through our boundary-pushing, customer-championing values and ambitions. Together, we are Virgin Media O2, and we can't wait to see what you can do.
The must haves
You will need at least 5 GCSEs level 4-9, or equivalent, to be eligible for this scheme.
The other stuff we are looking for
Bring your authentic self. You'll be joining the Initial Cell Optimisation team, who are responsible for the data builds of our nationwide sites. The constant improvement we drive will benefit our customer's experience with us so we're looking for candidates with a keen eye for problem solving. Having a driving licence will be useful within this role, as you'll be visiting sites and suppliers, but it's not an essential requirement for this role. Other qualities we'd like to see include:
1. Good understanding of the Microsoft Office suite
2. Interest in the mobile network industry
This role will be based in our Wythenshawe, Manchester office for approximately 10 months. We are relocating our offices to central Manchester, so successful candidates should be comfortable travelling to central Manchester after this period.
What's in it for you
This role is the perfect kickboard into your career in the Telecommunications industry. You'll be working towards a level 3 Radio Technician Apprenticeship while putting the theory into practice with the support of our team in the Manchester office. Join us on a starting salary of £30,000 with an increase to £33,000 after 12-months on the scheme. Final landing salaries start from £40,000 upon successful completion. Plus, you can enjoy our amazing benefits, including:
1. 25 days holiday, increasing to 28 days after 5 years
2. Your birthday off!
3. Flexible benefits package including matching up to 10% of your pension contributions, medical plans, and buying and selling holiday
4. Wide range of discounts on everything from days out to household bills
Next steps
If we feel like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you as a person and your experience to date. When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you. Please note: Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert, therefore we may bring the closing date forward. We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as possible. If you're offered a job with us, it will be conditional, based on the passing of background checks. All roles require a criminal record check and some roles need a financial probity check. Your recruiter can provide you with more information if needed. Thanks for your patience and for showing an interest in joining the Virgin Media O2 family.
