An exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Sustainability to join our established and expanding business and lead a specialist team overseeing projects and contracts around the UK in rail, engineering and civils sectors.
Business Unit
You will be joining an experienced team of SHEQ professionals supporting business units, projects and contracts across the UK in all matters relating to environmental and social Sustainability. Our Sustainability team consists of specialist advisors who are regionally based, providing local support to the regional businesses.
The Role
As Head of Sustainability, you will be responsible for the overall business strategy for Environment & Social Sustainability including business performance and team management.
Your day to day duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1. Managing and supporting a team of 5 Regional Sustainability Advisors/Managers
2. Being the lead for the development and the delivery of corporate sustainability objectives and targets
3. Managing the collation and dissemination of sustainability data in accordance with Client requirements.
4. PQQ / Tender input and guidance
5. Applying for and supporting Advisors with a range of environmental permits relating to flood risk, coastal works, protected sites, noise, heritage and conservation.
6. Providing legal / contractual involvement with regards to the management of the above issues.
7. Undertaking regular liaison and communication with appropriate authorities including Environment Agency, Local authorities, Natural England, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Natural Resources Wales, etc.
8. Providing advice, support and guidance to project teams and colleagues in relation to Sustainability issues.
9. Supporting the SHEQ Assurance Manager with the development of the Company's Business Management System and being the lead with regards to the ISO14001 elements and processes and procedures relating to sustainability.
10. Undertaking audits and inspections.
11. Overseeing the management of environmental incidents and complaints
12. Attending and representing AmcoGiffen at industry and client meetings
13. Attending internal senior management meetings
14. Delivering training.
15. Preparing and distributing corporate communications on sustainability issues.
16. Supporting AmcoGiffen's parent Company, Renew Holdings plc in meeting its environmental obligations.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Senior Environment & Sustainability Manager or a Head of Sustainability in a rail and civil engineering project environment and should be experienced and well versed in dealing with legal and contractual issues relating to core Environment & Social Sustainability subject areas.
1. Relevant environmental qualification - degree/diploma/HNC/HND
2. Experience working in civil engineering project environments (ideally within rail)
3. Chartered member of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment) or similar.
