We are looking for a Project Controller/ Lead for a 24 month contract based in Derby on behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs. Job description - the role As a member of the Services PM team, you will receive support in developing your project management knowledge and expertise while assisting with the management of the Services Portfolio of strategic projects. As a Project Lead you will be responsible for: Project Controller will take responsibility for the control and delivery of smaller, lower complexity projects or aspects of project portfolios. Monitor, review and report the status of projects / project portfolios in accordance with the requirements defined in the Project Management Plan and agreed with the Project Sponsor and Project Manager. Effective delivery of smaller, lower complexity projects or aspects of project portfolios. Report the status of projects / project portfolios in accordance with the requirements of the project. Manage and report variances to project baseline and report project Key Performance Indicators. Review project data, identify and report trends, highlight anomalies and propose corrective action if performance is outside specification. Ensure effective controls are implemented in accordance with the company management procedures to achieve the project success criteria. Accurate reporting to relevant stakeholders in accordance with the defined timescales. Become the co-ordinator for risk and business continuity for the facility Develop / implement Project Management best practice in line with company management processes. Provision of basic guidance to others regarding the Project Management processes and the operation of the project management systems / tools / methods. Contribution to the local Project Management Community of Practice. Where appropriate, recognition as a local Subject Matter Expert (SME).What we require from the candidate: Degree level qualification preferable or equivalent industry experience. Member of a professional body and working towards an APMP qualification or equivalent. Previous experience in a relevant discipline, preferably on project work. Working towards APMP / PMI qualification or equivalent (or assessed as possessing equivalent knowledge / experience to the same standard). Experience in the development and / or implementation of project management processes and lifecycle, and a good knowledge of the project control processes.
