Trainee / Domestic crossover - Commercial Gas Boiler Engineer
No experience needed.
You do not have to have steam boiler experience as we offer full training or crossover training if you are already gas safe registered.
THE ROLE
The successful candidate will need to have an interest in working on Steam and Hot Water Boilers, Boiler Plant Rooms and Associated Steam & Hot Water Plant associated equipment.
Most of the work when fully trained will be service and planned maintenance of commercial steam powered plant and heating machinery.
Impromptu and out of hours work is an essential part of our business and is a pre-requisite of the job.
The main goal of this role is to learn how to become a first-class engineering support service to our customer base nationwide.
This is a mobile role; our service engineers respond to planned and ad hoc issues to ensure minimal customer impact.
What will I be doing as a Trainee Commercial Gas Boiler Engineer?
1. Promote a professional image internally and externally.
2. Learn how to provide installation, repair, service & commissioning of industrial steam electric & hot water, including dismantle.
3. Learn how to repair breakdowns and solve customer problems, providing quick and accurate diagnosis and solutions.
4. Where necessary, when fully trained you will provide engineering assistance for planned annual boiler inspections and burner services.
5. You will be trained to play a key role in the wider Service Engineer team, providing colleague support as required.
6. Learn how to complete documentation including commissioning / inspection reports and timesheets in a timely manner.
7. To report any product or safety problems within the equipment to the Foreman/ Supervisor.
8. Unless on-site, the engineers are required to return to the head office, which is based in North Essex; therefore must be located within 1 hrs drive from Clacton on Sea.
To Be Successful in This Role You Will Have

4. When fully trained, have the ability to work effectively on your own initiative whilst providing a positive contribution to the Steam / Boiler Division.
5. Current clean driving license valid in the UK.
6. Qualified 17th Edition electrical – desirable.
7. Must have permanent residence & be allowed to work in the UK.
Tools, Uniform & a fully expensed van provided upon successful training period completion.
Hours of work are 8.30 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 4.30 pm Friday. However, you should expect to work long or irregular hours and some weekends.
28 days holiday per annum inclusive of b/h.
Salary is dependent upon experience.
