About You
As a Senior or Principal Civil Design Engineer, you will play a leading role in the design and delivery of critical water and wastewater infrastructure. From initial feasibility studies to detailed design and project completion, you will contribute your expertise to projects that make a real difference to communities and the environment.
Your work will support initiatives to improve river health and meet environmental targets, ensuring infrastructure projects deliver positive outcomes for people and ecosystems alike.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leading the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, with a focus on pipelines, sewer systems, pumping stations, and flood prevention measures.
2. Preparing conceptual, outline, and detailed designs for infrastructure that enhances water quality and reduces environmental impacts.
3. Supporting the delivery of projects aimed at improving river health and achieving environmental compliance.
4. Managing projects from inception to completion, including technical reports, appraisals, and design documentation.
5. Providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and graduate engineers.
6. Engaging with clients and stakeholders to deliver collaborative, innovative solutions.
7. Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards for health, safety, quality, and the environment.
8. Supporting innovation, driving efficiency, and contributing to low-carbon and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
9. Contributing to the successful delivery of a high workload during AMP8 and preparing for future programmes.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Proven experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design, including pipelines, sewer systems, and pumping stations.
2. Strong technical skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary projects focused on water networks.
3. Experience delivering projects aimed at improving river health and meeting environmental standards.
4. Strong understanding of industry regulations, including CDM requirements and environmental compliance.
5. Chartered status (or working towards chartership) with a relevant professional institution such as ICE or CIWEM.
6. Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications advantageous).
7. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and project teams.
