Job Description
As a Real Estate Legal Assistant/Paralegal your duties will include:
* Making sure risk assessments are up-to-date and files are AML compliant.
* Assisting with the monitoring of team financials, including debt and funds held on account.
* Able to deal with sale matters for freehold and leasehold matters including drafting contract packs, making contact with any relevant 3rd parties, dealing with enquiries, obtaining consent/redemption balances, where necessary, drafting completion statements and dealing with completions.
* Able to deal with post completion matters on leasehold matters, including service of notices to the relevant parties and making sure payment is made consents obtained, where necessary.
* Submission of AP1s and responding to Land Registry requisitions within timescales, diarising cancellation dates etc.
* Ability to review initial contract packs on purchase matters and making sure all documents are available for the solicitor with responsibility for the matter to raise initial enquiries.
* Submitting of SDLT & LTT returns within the relevant timescales.
* Submission of MR01 forms at Companies House within the relevant timescales.
* Undertaking OS1, OS2 and bankruptcy searches and diarising relevant dates.
* Maintaining and building relationships with clients and agents including calls and updates to all parties.
* Ensuring compliance with AML and UKFML.
* Helping to create workflows to improve department efficiency.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Real Estate Legal Assistant/Paralegal should be:
* Organised and efficient.
* Able to work on own initiative and effectively prioritise work.
* Experience of document and account management systems (ideally iManage and Aderant).
* Understanding of AML and CDD procedures.
* Updating Excel spreadsheets for internal and external purposes.
* Ability to assist with administrative matters such as processing financial transfers and managing the DocuSign process.
* Experience of working in a law firm environment and/or qualifications relating to the legal profession.
The role will involve the duties identified above (training will be provided to candidates meeting the essential requirements but not experienced in all the listed areas).
