Field Service Team Leader – Special Purpose Machinery
We are looking for an experienced Service Team Leader to take charge of a team of engineers responsible for maintaining and optimising high-performance machinery across multiple customer sites in the UK and Europe. This is a hands-on leadership role, ensuring the smooth running of service operations, maintaining strong customer relationships, and continuously improving service efficiency.
The Role:
As the Field Service Team Leader, you will manage and support a team of field engineers, ensuring they deliver high-quality service in line with contractual agreements. You will be responsible for scheduling work, providing technical guidance, and mentoring engineers to enhance their skills and performance. Working closely with customers, you will ensure service levels are met, troubleshooting complex issues when required and driving continuous improvement in processes.
Key Responsibilities of the Field Service Team Leader:
Oversee the daily operations of the service team, ensuring efficient scheduling and resource allocation.
Act as the primary point of contact for customers, handling service escalations and ensuring issues are resolved promptly.
Provide hands-on technical support where necessary, troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to minimise downtime.
Lead and develop engineers, ensuring they receive the necessary training and guidance to excel in their roles.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements across all service activities.
Monitor contract performance, managing costs effectively while identifying opportunities for service enhancements and additional revenue streams.
Drive process improvements and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
Maintain accurate records of service activities, ensuring clear documentation and reporting.
Collaborate with other departments, including technical support, operations, and supply chain, to ensure seamless service delivery.
What We’re Looking For in the Field Service Team Leader:
Strong background in technical service management or engineering leadership, ideally within a high-tech or automation environment.
Experience in electro-mechanical engineering, with a proven ability to maintain and service complex machinery.
A strategic mindset with the ability to improve service efficiency and manage key performance indicators.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with both customers and internal teams.
A commercial approach to service delivery, with experience managing contracts and identifying ways to enhance profitability.
Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe as required to support customer sites.
