The Role
As a Business Development Principle or Director, you are responsible for acquiring new clients in the MedTech/HealthTech sector providing long-term support for those clients you acquire with significant development potential.
How you'll make impact
* Expand & Leverage Your Network – You will work closely with VPs of R&D, CTOs, and Engineering Directors in MedTech and HealthTech companies, identifying challenges they face in product development and positioning Zühlke’s contract engineering and technical consulting services as the solution.
* Drive Revenue Through Strategic Sales – This is not a product sales or marketing strategy role; we are looking for someone who has successfully sold contract engineering services for medical device R&D. You will identify opportunities for new projects, develop technical proposals, and negotiate contracts with high-value clients.
* Understand the Medical Device Development Lifecycle – You will bring first-hand experience working with diagnostic or therapeutic device manufacturers in regulated environments. You understand engineering processes, regulatory challenges, and the R&D investment required to bring medical devices to market.
* Be a Trusted Advisor – Through your expertise, you will establish credibility as a knowledgeable partner in medical device development. You will collaborate with technical teams and specialists within Zühlke to tailor solutions that meet client needs.
* Guiding - You are perceived by our customers as a trusted companion, guiding them through solution-oriented consulting. You are confident in developing opportunities, writing technical proposals, negotiating contracts, and ultimately successful closing.
What is important to us
* Proven Experience in High-Value, Consultative Sales – You have a track record of selling professional engineering services, technical consulting, or contract R&D projects in MedTech and HealthTech.
* Deep Industry Knowledge – You have direct experience with medical device R&D, product development, and engineering—especially in diagnostic or therapeutic devices.
* Strong Technical Literacy – While you don’t need to be an engineer, you must be comfortable discussing hardware, software, and systems engineering challenges in medical devices, as well as regulatory requirements.
* Existing Network in MedTech/HealthTech R&D – You already engage with decision-makers in the medical device industry, whether in large manufacturers, mid-sized firms, or high-growth startups.
* Ability to Develop & Close Complex Sales – You know how to navigate long sales cycles, develop proposals, manage multiple stakeholders, and secure multi-year, high-value contracts.
* Background in Engineering, Science, or MedTech Business Development – A technical degree (engineering, life sciences, physics, etc.) or relevant industry experience is strongly preferred.
What we offer
* Work life blend: we offer a safe & healthy workplace, with flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home.
* Profit share scheme: In addition to your annual salary, you may receive a profit share defined by the company’s success in the previous year.
* Global and Diverse Zühlke community: witness how colleagues from all our 16 offices across the globe come together to create a unique, positive and inclusive work culture, learning from one another at annual team camps, and celebrating year-end parties and other local festivities.
