Job Description Make your mark as an environmental data analyst at Gardline We have an exciting opportunity to join our busy environmental reporting team as environmental data analyst where you will develop and run coded solutions to aid the collation and analysis of data collected by the field team and where appropriate, following laboratory analyses. You will also play an important role working alongside other Gardline departments to implement time-saving solutions to assist in the delivery of client deliverables. You will be forward-thinking and adaptable, able to prioritise tasks based on company and client requirements. Your responsibilities Develop and maintain analytical code to expedite environmental assessment of the acquired data. Work alongside the Client and Deputy Reporting Managers to develop software and write code enabling more streamlined offshore data acquisition. Provide training in the use of tools and scripts to the reporting team. Undertake database creation and maintenance along with modelling of environmental datasets to further Gardline’s analysis capabilities. Collate data related field work for particular projects and organise paper and electronic records. This includes raw analytical data, field logs, photographs and video recordings. Through the use of developed code and software tools analyse, interrogate and present data interrogation findings relevant to the Marine Wildlife and/or Environmental disciplines (training will be given where required). Qualitative, quantitative, statistical and geospatial analysis of data using appropriate software (training will be given where required) Maintain quality control records for software, code and tools developed within the role. Update databases with individual project metadata and key analysis results when required. Assist Senior and Lead Reporting Scientists with quality control of data received from laboratories or external parties. Assisting in background literature and data review associated with ongoing or upcoming projects. Liaise with and assist other Gardline departments when required. Your qualities and experience You can move forward as Environmental Data Analyst if you have: MSc or higher Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (i.e. Computer or Data Science, Software Development or Marine Science) Proven coding knowledge and machine learning knowledge and software creation experience. Four years’ experience working with statistical packages (R, Primer) Four years’ experience with demonstrable skills in one or more coding languages (Python, C++, C# and Windows Presentation Framework (WPF), R, MATLAB or .net languages) At least three years’ demonstrable experience of writing computer code for scientific analytical tasks. Mapping software’s (ArcGIS, global mapper, surfer or mapinfo) Four years’ experience of MS Office products (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
