Job Title: Lead Economist
Location: London, Bristol, or Manchester (Hybrid, 3 days on-site; flexibility possible)
Contract: 6 months
Clearance Required: BPSS
About the Role:
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned economist with public sector experience to lead economic modelling and benefit evaluations on digital transformation projects. You’ll collaborate across departments, applying your expertise in public sector frameworks to produce robust business cases that will drive key funding and decision-making efforts. A strong understanding of the Green Book framework is essential, as is experience working on major government fiscal events.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop Economic Cases: Lead the creation of comprehensive economic cases that drive strategic project funding and align with departmental priorities.
* Tracking and Evaluation: Establish and enhance tracking systems for evaluating project benefits, applying these insights to digital services and tools.
* Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert advice to leadership, building productive relationships with key governmental departments to support collaborative initiatives.
* Mentorship and Oversight: Guide junior economists and analysts, facilitating their contributions to key project outcomes and ensuring quality work.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Economics Background: Degree in Economics or equivalent qualification.
* Public Sector Experience: Demonstrated experience in economic analysis for public sector projects, especially those involving interdepartmental collaboration.
* Green Book Knowledge: Expertise in applying Green Book standards for impact assessment and economic case development.
* Leadership and Mentorship: Experience in managing and directing junior team members effectively.
* Stakeholder Management: Strong ability to build relationships, influence decision-making, and engage with senior stakeholders and external partners.
