To lead on the Capital Programme for Rail Defect Asset Management and associated business lead for management of the relevant frameworks and contracts. Responsibility for the asset management portfolio not limited to the Track & Fleet Rail Maintenance duties associated with Welding, Grinding, Ultrasonic Rail Flaw Detection Operations and Rail defect management.
Join us in this role within the Nexus Rail Infrastructure Maintenance team as an Assistant Engineering Manager for Rail Maintenance on a full time basis. Your role will be a leadership role within the Track & Fleet team that assists the Engineering Manager in ensuring the safety and reliability of Nexus Infrastructure by leading upon the planned, reactive and corrective maintenance & inspection regime of the Departmental Asset Management portfolio as determined by the Principal Engineer & Head of Rail Infrastructure Maintenance, to meet the safety & legislative compliance and the operational performance & reliability requirements of Nexus.
You will be responsible for leading the asset management of infrastructure maintenance and the delivery of the capital programme for Plain Line & Switches & Crossing Welding and Grinding, Ultrasonic Rail Flaw Detection Operations and Rail Defect Management.
You will assist the Engineering Manager with corporate responsibilities as a member of the Nexus Infrastructure Team and support the wider Nexus Service Areas in assisting with 3rd party, customer claims and complaints, to permit Nexus liability to be established and initiate corrective action where necessary.
You will lead the departmental strategic plan for Welding, Grinding URFDO and Defect Management in conjunction with the Principal Engineer to ensure the departmental asset portfolio is fully operational and meets the safety and legislative requirements of Nexus and our Customers. You will ensure all relevant departmental Safety and Assurance is followed in line with Nexus Safety and Integrated Management Systems not limited to the development and briefing of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Work Package Plans, Method of Works Statements, Construction Phase Plans and Service area assurance is adhered to.
You will hold an HNC (or equivalent, or higher) qualification in a railway or civil engineering subject area and/or will be able to demonstrate extensive experience of Rail Defect Asset Management associated with welding, grinding and ultrasonic rail flaw detection operation activities.
You will have a working knowledge of the railway industry including safety regulations, railway group standards and consumer benefit requirements and excellent knowledge of Health and safety legislation.
