Job Summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Grounds Maintenance Team, who maintain South Norfolk and Broadland Councils land assets, including amenity areas. We also carry out private contracts to a high standard.
This role is ideal for an individual with grounds maintenance experience who values the environment, and who is willing to contribute to delivering an excellent service to our customers.
You will be responsible for a range of duties to include:
1. Grass cutting of amenity areas using a range of mowers and brush cutters.
2. Grass cutting and collecting of wildflower / conservation areas.
3. Cutting hedges using a variety of handheld cutters and clearing and removing the trimmings.
4. Pruning / maintaining and installing of shrub beds using a variety of motorised equipment.
5. Application of herbicides on soft and hard landscapes and recording the data in line with COSHH regulations.
6. Erecting and removal of street name plates throughout Broadland and South Norfolk Council districts.
7. Using various plant and machinery to complete grounds maintenance activities.
8. Driving truck & trailer from site to site, conducting vehicle safety inspections on trucks, trailers and mowers ensuring they are safe and legally maintained.
9. Daily recording of site HAV scores in line with Health & Safety regulations to ensure they never exceed their limits.
10. Conducting emergency flood / drainage work.
11. Performing various duties related to soft and hard landscaping including fencing, turf laying, reseeding, and concrete laying.
You must have: Ground maintenance experience or similar, with a good understanding of Health & Safety regulations. You will need to have a full Cat B (Car) licence with less than 6 penalty points. Additionally, you should either hold a driving licence qualification enabling you to tow a trailer or be willing to undertake training to qualify. As a driver, you will be fully responsible for your designated vehicle and will need to be proactive in undertaking driver checks at the start and end of each shift, reporting any faults to the workshop.
The role will require some flexibility in terms of working with winter and summer working hours to make the most of the seasonal differences.
You will be operating in a safety critical role where your safety is paramount, the Council has a zero-tolerance policy to taking illegal substances. This role will be subject to random Drugs and Alcohol testing.
