The Chief Exploration Geologist will assess the geological, technical, regulatory, and economic aspects of strategic mining opportunities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. This role requires strong expertise in exploration and geology, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proactive approach to identifying viable exploration opportunities globally.
Conduct thorough risk assessments to mitigate safety hazards related to site conditions, equipment, and processes.
Conduct preliminary assessments of mineral opportunities based on surface and physical data.
Design and implement drilling campaigns and evaluate mineral resources/reserves following industry standards.
Analyze the economic potential of projects and develop financial models to assess investment viability.
Perform risk assessments considering regulatory, environmental, and geopolitical factors.
Regulatory and Compliance Management:
~ Ensure all exploration activities comply with local and international regulations.
Stakeholder and Community Engagement:
Build and manage relationships with local and community leaders.
Collaborate with technical, geological, financial, communications, and operational teams to align objectives.
Present project opportunities to internal stakeholders, including executive teams, M&A, and legal departments.
Promote the organization’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives within exploration projects.
Manage contractors and consultants conducting exploration and regulatory assessments.
Lead teams to ensure efficient project delivery while maintaining high performance and safety standards.
Approximately 10 years of experience in exploration and geology, including generative exploration activities for critical minerals (e.g., Expertise in assessing geological resources and identifying high-quality deposits.
Experience navigating regulatory, compliance, and environmental challenges in mining jurisdictions.
Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish or French is an added advantage.
Cultural sensitivity and understanding of local and regional business practices.
Global travel required based on strategic opportunities.
