Internal Redeployment Only - Project Officer An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Centre for Social Care and Artificial intelligence Learning (SCALE) and School of Computer Science and Informatics. SCALE is funded by Health Care Research Wales and will be launched in April 2025 with aims to harness the potential of Artificial Intelligence to address challenges in social care for children and adults. The Centre is a truly interdisciplinary collaboration between the School of Computer Science & Informatics, the Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre (CASCADE) and the Centre for Adult Social Care (CARE), (both based in the School of Social Sciences). The Project Coordinator will support the set up and growth of SCALE, coordinating research projects and associated activities, involving multiple stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation including funders, government bodies, local authorities, charities, support organisations, care professionals, and people with lived experience of care services. As Project Coordinator, you will work closely with the Centre Director, Co-Directors and Manager, alongside academic Principal Investigators, other researchers and a broad range of Professional Service teams across the University to support all areas of administrative components relating to grant applications and active research projects. This post will play a key role in launching the Centre, working closely with a broad range of colleagues across the University to support exciting new research directions with real world impact and to develop appropriate professional service processes for the Centre. Duties and Responsibilities Key Duties Provide professional advice and guidance on research activities within SCALE to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood. Investigate and analysis specific issues within SCALE, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within Social Care and AI to support research activities and ensure accurate record-keeping of research outputs, collaborations and stakeholder engagement. Ensure that the provision of the research activity support is delivered to the institution, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements. Collaborate with others in order to make recommendations for developments of established processes and procedures with a focus on preparation and submission of funding applications and project reports. Establish working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required. Create specific working groups from colleagues across the University to achieve school/departmental objectives. Supervise specific project teams on an occasional basis to accomplish key objectives. Develop and deliver training within SCALE, lead initiatives to foster an engaging, inclusive and dynamic interdisciplinary research culture, encouraging participation form the school of Computer Science & Informatics and CASCADE/CARE. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the department, ranging from clerical support, financial administration and marketing activities within SCALE.
