Job Description
Ultra Precision Control Systems is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the PCS Quality Assurance team. This team is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of PCS's Quality Policy, which includes full compliance with all applicable regulatory and customer specifications, maintaining an effective Quality Management System, and working closely with Operations and Engineering to ensure product and process conformity and continuous improvement of quality non-conformance costs and standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and conduct audits and assessments according to the QMS, including documentation and follow-up activities.
2. Support investigations into quality issues, including root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
3. Manage the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventative measures.
4. Maintain quality metrics and targets to ensure QA compliance.
5. Support external audits, assessments, and visits by customers and authorities.
6. Perform regular shop floor checks, report findings, and resolve issues effectively.
7. Coordinate and facilitate timely responses to quality issues.
8. Assist in creating Quality Plans and proposals.
9. Generate First Article Reports and support customer-facing verification activities.
10. Support customer or supplier inspections and review activities.
11. Facilitate concession applications and engineering change requests.
12. Participate in design project reviews and ensure compliance with internal QMS standards.
13. Participate in contract reviews and new business proposals.
14. Support operator approval processes, including issuing stamps and approval scopes.
15. Achieve departmental objectives aligned with personal goals.
16. Follow company policies, procedures, and processes.
17. Promote a culture of continuous improvement through process mapping, lean methodologies, etc.
18. Assist in maintaining company approvals such as EASA/CAA, FAR, ISO, AS, etc., to ensure airworthiness.
19. Perform additional activities as needed to contribute to Ultra PCS's goals and objectives.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
* Proven experience in Quality and Business Improvement.
* Experience working within a quality management system.
* Experience with internal and external audits.
* Knowledge of manufacturing environments and supply chains.
* Experience liaising with internal and external customers.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work effectively with others and build strong relationships.
* Good planning and timely delivery skills.
* Positive attitude and proactive approach.
* Initiative and decision-making skills within the role scope.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable
* Experience in aerospace organizations.
* Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100, EASA Part 21, Part 145).
* Understanding of aerospace topics like FOD, counterfeit avoidance.
* Experience with First Article / Parts Approval reporting (e.g., AS9102, PPAP).
* Knowledge of process measurement techniques (SPC, KPIs).
* Familiarity with Quality Management System and Process Mapping Software.
* Certified Quality Auditor qualification.
* Engineering qualifications or degree, ideally to degree level.
