Description The full-time starting salary is normally £45,581.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £49,545.00 per annum. Grade: MA2 Full time. 2 Years, Fixed Term This post has been created to specifically support the delivery of the enhancement and innovation of our teaching and learning practices, with a specific focus on reducing the ethnicity degree awarding gap (EDAG). This role will design and lead interventions across the university and evaluate and report outcomes to various BCU committees and leadership teams. We are proactively seeking to recruit an individual with specific knowledge and expertise related to closing awarding gaps, anti-racist pedagogy, decoloniality, unconscious bias, curriculum development and design, and the ability to lead effective interventions to support all students towards success. If you want to make a difference to the experience, success and outcomes for all students and have the leadership skills to inspire, guide and empower students and staff towards achieving these goals – please apply The role will involve working closely with module and course teams to identify issues, design and lead appropriate interventions, monitor and evaluate the impact, and share good practice at a university level and externally as required. Alongside leading consultations and workshops, the generation of reports and resources to support ongoing progress for the APP / EDAG will also be required. The post holder will also support other workstreams across the Education Development Service (EDS) linked to the Access and Participation Plan, Office for Students and National Student Survey (e.g. learning, teaching and assessment practice, teaching observations, student experience and transitions to Higher Education). ROLE DETAILS The Senior Education Developer will: Proactively work with Faculties to enable curriculum development activity that has demonstrable impact on student experience, and particularly the closure of the EDAG. Review and analyse University data and reports to identify priority areas (modules, courses, subject areas) for development / initiatives. Design, develop and facilitate well-structured education and curriculum development activities and interventions with academic and professional services colleagues. Support senior staff in EDS in investigating and designing institution-wide interventions and development activities. Lead, design and deliver credit-bearing and accredited provision as required by the University. Sustain a positive and productive working relationship across EDS, professional services and Faculties. Provide specialist, professional advice to academic and professional services colleagues. Maintain currency in Higher Education (HE) pedagogy and educational development practice through engaging in scholarly practice. Mentor and line manage Education Developers (and other in-house posts as appropriate). You will have: A good honours degree or equivalent professional qualification. A learning and teaching qualification is essential (i.e. PgCert, MA/MEd) SFHEA status is essential (or the ability to achieve it in the first year of employment). Experience of teaching, and developing and delivering staff development activity in HE. Experience of mentoring and supporting colleagues in curriculum development. Strong and effective IT / digital skills with confidence in data analysis / learner analytics. Excellent communication skills with the ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with others. Ability to work in a team and on own initiative. Understanding of the Higher Education sector. What’s in it for you?
