London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of Psychology Technician.
The psychology laboratories have a steady stream of undergraduate and postgraduate students who are engaged in a wide variety of investigative studies. A significant part of this work involves the development of bespoke experiments utilising the specialist resources in the labs. The purpose of the Psychology Technician is to assist the technician in this area with day-to-day operation, providing technical support to the wider range of users and undertaking duties ranging from lab/facility booking and scheduling, assisting with enquiries through to the presentation and/or demonstration of key technologies.
This position involves working with the senior technician and will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to contribute to the development of skills of students hoping to embark on a career in psychology. It is also the ideal opportunity to gain further first-hand experience in a professional environment and for the right candidate, an opportunity to broaden their knowledge, understanding and experience of these fields by undertaking appropriate training. You may be involved in research projects particularly assisting with the setup/ demonstration of equipment including BIOPAC, EYETRACKERS and EEG.
About You:
We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:
1. Practical working knowledge and understanding of the use of specialist psychology related hardware/software as well as Microsoft Office Applications
2. Proven ability in providing excellent technical support and/or technical demonstrations in either a related higher education or professional environment
3. Practical understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act and its practical application
4. Excellent organisational and administrative skills
The ideal candidate will be degree educated, be highly motivated and bring a high-level of customer service skills to the role.
