Senior Technical Animator
UK Remote or West Midlands Based - Birmingham/Worcestershire Area

Role and Purpose:
You will be an essential member of the animation team, working closely with technical animators, animators, tech art, and designers to devise animation solutions and pipelines to help us achieve the level of quality needed for characters, creatures, vehicles, and objects in our games. You will assist in developing our animation and character workflows, working both in Maya and in Unreal Engine. You will also be supporting rig creation and assisting animators with tools, pipelines, and processes. Our ideal candidate has a passion for and experience in technical animation for games, keeping up with animation technology in the latest Unreal Engine releases, such as Retargeting Pipelines, Control Rig, Motion Matching, and Motion Warping.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in implementing animations into Unreal Engine 5, creating and maintaining animation blueprints, setting up animation montages, integrating with existing systems, and utilizing best practices.
* Assist in creating rigs and supporting tools in Maya.
* Act as a key liaison between design, art, and code teams to deliver high-quality and optimized gameplay experiences.
* Work closely with the animation team and creative director on defining and maintaining the style and quality bar of in-game animations, focusing on feel and player experience.
* Collaborate with animators, designers, and technical artists to ensure animations meet technical requirements and achieve the artistic vision.
* Work with Leads to develop, maintain, and follow character art and animation pipelines.
* Participate in team meetings and actively contribute to creative discussions.
* Manage time effectively to meet animation deadlines and project milestones.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Technical Animator in the games industry with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
* Strong experience with Unreal Engine animation tools, animation montages, animation blueprints, state machines, blend trees, and animation modifiers.
* Strong understanding of best practices for quality and performant animation solutions.
* Experience in rig creation and skinning in Maya.
* A passion for game development and an in-depth awareness of current titles and industry trends.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience working on console FPS games.
* Experience with the latest Unreal Engine Animation Tools, pipelines, and best practices.
* Skills in tool creation and Python scripting for Maya.
* Experience with Advanced Skeleton.
* Experience with motion capture and facial rigging.
* Experience with Retargeting Pipelines, Control Rig, Motion Matching, and Motion Warping in Unreal Engine 5.
