Job Title: Team Leader - Children's Home
Essential Criteria: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
Location: Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time - 40 hours per week - Shifts
Salary: £15.25 - £16.64 per hour - effective from 1st January 2025 (£31,720.00 - £34,611.20 per annum), linked to competency and qualifications
We are currently looking for a Team Leader for our Children's home which provides care and therapeutic support for children and young people age 6-19 years with severe and profound communication difficulties associated with conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, and degenerative disorders.
Responsibilities:
1. Have a passion to make a difference, enabling children and young people to succeed and feel valued.
2. Actively promote and maintain a stable, happy homely and caring environment that prioritizes the health, safety, and welfare of our young people.
3. Provide support to the Care Managers through the management, motivation, and coaching of a team of support workers and Senior Support workers.
4. Be responsible for a team that provides appropriate physical and emotional support to the children and young people through the work of the care team within a residential environment and during off-site activities, including GP and health-related appointments, visits to families, and trips out.
5. Help with the induction of new team members and their continued mentoring and development towards QCF and other mandatory training.
6. Carry out supervisions and address Performance Management issues within your team.
7. Ensure activities are completed and effectively delegated, and that day-to-day implementation of young people's individual program plans are carried out efficiently with adequate cover available at all times.
8. Ensure that all documentation is kept up to date.
9. Regularly undertake sleeping-in duties (for which an allowance is paid), waking night duties, and duty manager/on-call responsibilities.
10. Participate in physical intervention and personal care as required.
11. Be flexible and ready to assist wherever needed.
Experience:
1. QCF Level 3 in Childcare or a QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
2. Shift/team leading experience
3. Superb communication skills
