This automotive component manufacturer based in Llanelli is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their team, due to growth and expansion. The company is part of an internationally represented group with an impressive history and progressive approach, continually adding new products and technologies.
The Role
This is a permanent full-time position working 08:00AM - 04:30PM Monday - Thursday with an early 01:00PM finish on a Friday. In this role you will be responsible for new product introduction or modification of supporting stamping, assembly tooling and processes.
Duties will include:
1. Managing product design (where applicable), process design & gauge design (inc. feasibility) and introduction in line with QCD deliverables
2. Create, modify and interpret CAD models, engineering drawings & Specifications
3. Providing quotation support for tooling, processes and checking fixtures to include concepts, layouts and cycle times as required
4. Providing accurate cost and timing feedback for products and changes during the enquiry and program phase
5. Preparation of SORs for tooling, processes
6. Support nomination of tooling, processes and checking fixture suppliers
7. Support the buy off of tooling and lead the buy off processes and checking fixtures
8. Provide timing for assigned milestones and activities and ensure they are achieved
9. Supporting the follow up of Pressing / assembly / special purpose / tooling equipment suppliers as required and ensuring adherence to agreed planning
10. Co-ordinating the preparation of PFMEA, control plan and process planning documentation via project team
11. Training of project team members where required
12. Escalating risks / issues to program management in a timely manner
13. Reporting project status in accordance with scheduled project and program reviews and reporting formats
14. Following and maintaining project processes and documentation
15. Attending customer PMST meetings using prescribed action / timing log
16. Support project to 90 days post SOP - to final project hand over / sign off
17. Communication and presentations, directly with customers and internal stakeholders
Requirements
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:
18. HNC / Degree in Mechanical Engineering
19. Recognised 4 year apprenticeship in an Engineering Discipline
20. Minimum of 3 years project engineering experience in an automotive or mass manufacturing environment
21. Proven experience in controlling multiple projects with large teams
22. Experience in lead assembly equipment sourcing, buy off, installation and commissioning from kick off to volume production
23. Able to use CATIA and to transpose GD&T from complex assemblies into child parts (tolerancing)
24. A thorough knowledge and understanding of high volume manufacturing with specific attention to engineering processes
25. Sound understanding of core tools - PFMEA / Control Plan / Gauge R&R etc.
26. Current driving license & valid Passport
27. Prepared for periods away from home at domestic and foreign customers and suppliers.
28. Solid problem solving, fault diagnosis and numerical reasoning skills
29. Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
30. Results driven, with the enthusiasm and resilience
31. The ability to lead cross functional team members and train others
