Who are we?
Newmedica are one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatient appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We aim to change lives through better sight and eye health.
We care for thousands of NHS and private patients a year in our specialist eye clinics across the country. We have significant growth plans over the next few years as we look to establish a national footprint and open many new sites across the UK.
We are thrilled to say that following an independently conducted survey of Newmedica colleagues, we have been certified as a Great Place to Work for the second year running. This is a global benchmark that recognises employers who create an outstanding employee experience.
Role overview
At Newmedica, we're on a mission to end avoidable sight loss in every community we serve. We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Operations Lead to join our team in Brigg and help us achieve our ambitious goals. This role will be 40 hours over 5 days per week, including some weekends.
As an Operations Lead, you'll be at the heart of our local operations team, ensuring that we provide the highest quality of patient care every day. Reporting to the Outpatient Manager, you'll have the opportunity to shape and motivate the team's performance, driving them to achieve and deliver outstanding results. Your role will be crucial in promoting a culture of trust, teamwork, and open communication, fostering positive relationships between our clinical team, patients, clients, and other stakeholders.
In this role, you'll be responsible for the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of our service, ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission Fundamental Standards. You'll coordinate clinic schedules, manage capacity and demand, and implement working procedures to support service excellence. Your keen eye for detail will help you provide regular data analytics, develop reporting processes, and ensure all operational governance protocols and healthcare standards are met.
What skills and experience do I need?
We're looking for someone with demonstrable management experience within the NHS or another highly regulated organisation. You should have excellent customer service skills, a passion for patient care, and the ability to manage a small team effectively. Strong communication, interpersonal, and client relationship skills are essential, as is the ability to remain calm under pressure and use your initiative when needed.
You'll need to be fully computer literate, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel. A professional and personable manner, along with a results-orientated mindset, will help you thrive in this role. If you have previous experience in the ophthalmic sector, that's a bonus, but it's not essential.
At Newmedica, we value continuous learning and development, so a passion for self and shared learning is a must. We're looking for someone who can lead by example, embrace our values and strategy, and motivate the team to achieve or exceed performance targets.
