Location: Scotland, Aberdeenshire to Stirlingshire

This is a hybrid role based at either Maxim Park (Motherwell) or Westhill (Aberdeenshire), with regular travel to current key site locations in Aberdeenshire and Stirlingshire and the flexibility to work from home, supported by Balfour Beatty's smart working policy.
Purpose of the role
Responsible for the financial management of a major, complex project(s) or a number of projects from inception, tendering, negotiating, and agreeing contracts, then commercially delivering projects often worth many tens of millions of pounds.
Integral part of the project leadership team where they hold key responsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of each project.
Experienced individuals who have risen through the ranks of the industry and their role is broad and includes anything from risk management to procurement, financial reporting, and managing the supply chain.
Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management, and developing team leadership. They will also have an extensive understanding of the construction industry, flexibility, and a talent for negotiation.
Demonstrate willingness and capability to manage and develop a commercial team and be themselves a Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES, or CIOB, and a mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.
What you'll be doing
* Provide commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms of construction.
* Support the review of tenders, including estimates, cost data, and contract reviews.
* Manage the commercial aspects of a large infrastructure project or a portfolio of smaller projects.
* Develop and directly manage a small team.
* Manage costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
* Deliver varied commercial duties including procurement and managing supply chain.
* Optimize commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for money opportunities, whilst achieving standards and quality for our customers.
* Create and maintain commercial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Administer contracts with both clients and subcontractors.
* Support adherence to the end-to-end Gated Business Lifecycle process (Gates 1-8).
* Proactively drive career and personal development, including professional certification.
Who we're looking for
* Experience in cost management and maximizing value on large projects or portfolios.
* Embedding a mindset of financial and commercial control within a team.
* In-depth knowledge of procuring and managing supply chains.
* Maintain a Personal Development Plan for continuous growth.
* Possession or progression towards professional accreditation.
* Ability to mentor and coach team members for talent development and succession planning.
* Ability to work to deadlines, delegate effectively, and maintain high standards.
* Excellent communication skills with stakeholders.
* Keen interest and experience in infrastructure projects.
* Resilience and determination to succeed.
* Ability to proactively manage opportunities, risks, and threats.
* Experience with NEC contracts.
