We are looking for an experienced Furniture / Product designer to join the growing Industrial Design team. The team works on elements for major architectural projects, for clients on private commissions and with major design led brands to develop new products for commercial manufacture. The role requires creative thinking, design sensitivity and strong technical ability and workshop skills.
Role Definition
Reporting to: Head of Industrial Design on a day to day basis and ultimately to the Head of Design
Responsibilities
1. To work on industrial and furniture projects within the department and act as a consultant to the architectural and interiors teams.
2. To prepare and develop from the brief, a design proposal and presentation by means of hand sketches, technical drawings, graphics, CAD models, working and presentation models.
3. To liaise with other external design teams and manufacturers and to oversee the construction and development of a project.
4. To take responsibility where required by the project leader for specific areas of the design and project development.
5. To assess the need for manufacture of a presentation model and to liaise with the model shop in terms of time and material management. To work within the safety guidelines and provide support to others within the machine tool environment.
6. To review industrial design work as part of the internal review process.
7. To give support where needed to colleagues working on other projects within the industrial team.
8. Thorough knowledge of and compliance with Foster + Partners procedures and standards.
9. To contribute, or otherwise assist as required.

1. Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
2. Previous experience within the field of industrial design.
3. Able to construct sketch and high-level presentation models in house for review and client presentation.
4. Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based.

8. Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
