The Quality Lead in Education plays a crucial role in enhancing teaching, learning, and assessment quality. Reporting to the Head of Education, Skills, and Work for Justice and Immigration (HoESW (J&I)), you will support, challenge, and coach teaching staff for continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.

This is a role for a successful leader who has extensive experience working within a Further Education environment. Your experience will ensure you can develop and evaluate quality assurance processes, drive performance improvement business wide, and lead continuous improvement and inspection readiness within Serco's Integrated Services team. Also, to oversee the development of products and learning environments to meet standards and collaborate closely with governance leads for consistent reporting, focusing on quality and compliance activities alongside Ofsted inspections.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Head of Education, Skills and Work (J&I) to develop and deliver inspirational, innovative, and up-to-date education programs that exemplify outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment.
2. Provide extensive coaching and support to individual teaching staff members, enabling them to enhance their practice in teaching, learning, and assessment.
3. Contribute to the improvement of teaching, learning, and assessment by making accurate judgements, providing high-quality coaching feedback, and actively participating in teachers' development plans.
4. Collaborate with the site Head of ESWs to enhance identified provisions related to teaching, learning, and assessment, aligning them with the highest quality standards.
5. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Ofsted priorities, expectations, and judgements regarding the quality of education, ensuring strict compliance within the institution.
6. Design, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate professional development programs for ESW staff, focusing on the continuous enhancement of their teaching and assessment skills and practices.
7. Actively engage in professional development activities and take on cross-prison responsibilities within your area of expertise, such as digital innovation.
8. Provide dedicated support to newly qualified or staff training to be teachers and assessors, offering guidance and assistance to help them develop their professional practice.
9. Foster collaboration with other educational providers and external agencies to identify and disseminate best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment, driving continuous improvement.
10. Actively seek and respond to the views of learners, working closely with them to enhance and improve the quality of their learning experience through innovative and inspirational practices.
11. Oversee, analyse and interpret relevant data and information to support ongoing improvements in student success and teaching, learning, and assessment.
12. Actively participate in relevant prison groups and events focused on teaching, learning, and assessment, contributing to the overall enhancement of educational standards.
13. Provide accurate information and reports to the Director, Deputy Director and Head of Education, Skills and Work (J&I), ensuring transparency and accountability.
14. Manage the Observations of Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLA) strategy and support development plans that secure and sustain improvements through high quality professional development.
15. Develop and implement Quality Assurance Frameworks, including quality calendar, QIG and other quality forums.
16. Support Bid and Mobilisation activities.
What you'll need to do the role:
1. Existing experience of product development and successful engagement/partnership with awarding bodies.
2. A recognised teaching qualification of Level 5 or above.
3. Existing experience of Ofsted Inspections processes within a further education/prison environment.
4. A quality qualification and/or quality nominee experience would be desirable.
5. Existing experience of working with learners and employers and delivering solutions that meet/exceed their needs and ambitions within an FE environment.
6. Existing experience of audit processes, compliance and success.
7. Existing experience of designing and delivering training plans for colleagues across an organisation/within a business unit.
8. Existing experience of driving accurate, timely and consistent reporting for a range of audiences whether internal or external.
9. Demonstrable track record in building, leading and retaining teams of excellent talent.
10. A recognised & respected leader with a strong network of stakeholders, regulators, and partners within the sector/business.
11. Excellent people leadership skills. Must be skilled in communicating, cross-cultural management, organisational culture development and motivating staff.
12. Politically incisive in communicating effectively with customers, sector stakeholders, partners and external bodies as relevant.
13. Demonstrates an impeccable track record of health, safety, and compliance leadership.
14. A demonstrable understanding of the adult skills sector and developments in the related technology, funding, compliance and quality opportunities and issues. Thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and is willing to get stuck in when needed.
15. Have a track record of delivering creative solutions in complex operational environments.
Finally, flexibility is a must - you will be expected to travel to attend meetings and deliver training across our contracts and offices.
