Due to our ongoing growth we are currently recruiting for a driven and professional Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Orbit Housing contract, based in the office in Stratford-upon-Avon. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Commercial Manager and work in partnership with Operations Management, acting as a lead figure within the surveying structure with responsibility for line management and be accountable for the development of the team. The Senior Quantity Surveyor ensures accurate reporting is fundamental to the role and will have a key focus on building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the company obtains value for money and receives the correct market value from the supply chain.
The Client
Fortem’s contract with Orbit Housing is long term with options to extend and we cover over 17,000 houses across Stratford-upon-Avon, Coventry, Nuneaton, Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bedford. We have multiple workstreams, including Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, Capital Works and Re-Roofing. Duties & Responsibilities
Your key duties and responsibilities will include the following:
1. Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the parameters of the Contract and further commercial negotiations.
2. Ensure the project team achieve or exceed budgeted targets.
3. Responsible for the application schedule of rates, acting as a subject matter expert for contractual arrangements.
4. Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing, the implementation of appropriate procedures to resolve client queries and ensuring cash is received when due.
5. Monitoring and analysis of management information and job cost against job revenue, supporting the operations and finance and enablement of data driven decision making.
6. Point of contact for dispute resolution.
7. Identify potential disputes in a timely manner.
8. Ensure Accurate Cashflow Forecasts and Revenue profiles are in place accurate and updated regularly.
9. Supporting the MQS in the preparation and timely reporting of information including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC) and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through robust cost control.
What You Will Need
Essential criteria:
1. Previous experience within a commercial management role.
2. QS degree or equivalent training relevant experience.
3. Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development).
4. Negotiating and communication skills.
5. Line management experience and the development of people.
6. Detailed knowledge of relevant contract conditions.
7. Experience of Management Accounts.
8. A high level of organisation and achieving deadlines.
9. Maintaining technical knowledge and understanding.
10. Full UK driving licence.
Desired criteria:
1. Working towards MCIOB or RICS membership.
