A permanent job opportunity has become available with an immediate start for an IMPORTS Courier Clerk. The candidate must be fully experienced in the start-to-finish process of all courier imports documentation and entries.
The Import Courier Clerk will be expected to work Tuesday – Saturday, either with a 7:30 am start and 4:00 pm finish or an 8:00 am start and 4:30 pm finish.
The Import Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the logistical processes associated with adhering to customs regulations, ensuring strict compliance with legal requirements, and working to local and global policies.
Additional responsibilities include liaising with HMRC to make amendments and reclaims, as well as regularly monitoring and checking the import warehouse operation. This is a structured role that requires engagement with logistics teams across the business to ensure strict compliance with implemented processes and procedures.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. Perform and complete daily customs clearance entries from start to finish for all courier and cargo imports (Air & Road).
2. Monitor Duty and VAT using internal systems/software.
3. Be responsible for all customs requirements, dealing with border force and EU customs.
4. Ensure import compliance and adherence to HMRC regulations.
5. Communicate with all relevant internal departments regarding shipments.
6. Liaise with Airlines for BI and Shed transfers.
7. Arrange airline collections for transfer to ETSF.
8. Liaise with HMRC and other government bodies.
9. Deal with a variety of commodities.
10. Conduct weekly bond checks at the ETSF warehouse.
11. Release shipments from the warehouse.
12. Perform general warehouse duties as required (predominantly an office-based role).
13. Handle all queries quickly and efficiently.
14. Provide a high level of customer service.
15. Be self-managing and proactive.
16. Work effectively in a team environment.
17. Perform filing and other general administrative duties.
18. Be competent with IT.
19. Assist Management when required and provide cover as needed.
Essential Requirements:
1. Previous Courier Import experience.
2. Low value bulk clearance (BIRDS) experience.
3. Proficient in using CDS.
Desirable:
1. Experience with Descartes (e-customs).
2. NCTS – T1’s.
3. Knowledge of courier imports, Descartes, and CDS.
The Import Courier Clerk will need to be fully experienced with the whole process of all entries.
