About the Opportunity
Amentum Engineering Development are currently recruiting an EC&I technician to strengthen our existing capability in support of our 'Materials Science and Structural Integrity Laboratories' at Birchwood, Warrington. These facilities provide a suite of test rigs and equipment operating at high temperatures and pressures providing vital data in relation to structural integrity and corrosion. The role will also support several exciting upcoming projects across the wider 'Engineering Development' team delivering innovative solutions for our client base across the nuclear industry and associated energy sector.
Specific responsibilities are:
* The ability to work safely following company policies and procedures.
* Provide a wide range of electrical, control and instrumentation support, serving a state-of-the-art materials science and corrosion laboratory and other bespoke engineering development projects.
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities on a variety of electrical systems, plant and machinery.
* Maintaining, fault finding and repairing existing control and instrumentation systems.
* Modifying, building and installing control panels and instrumentation.
* Carrying out electrical testing and commissioning of plant and equipment.
* Working with the design team to ensure all schematics and cable schedules are correct and up to date.
* Familiarity with a wide range of instrumentation and associated data acquisition systems.
This is predominantly a hands-on role where the successful candidate will be required to have good practical skills with the ability to identify faults in a logical manner and carryout remedial work where necessary.
The role is varied and a willingness to question and learn will be essential. Good communication skills, often across multiple disciplines to deliver to customer requirements efficiently and effectively is a pre-requisite. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and take a positive, proactive and enthusiastic approach to delivering to tight deadlines.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
* A strong commitment to 'Health and Safety'.
* Time served Electrical/Electronic Apprenticeship (or equivalent experience).
* Formal qualification in a relevant discipline such as Electrical/Electronic Engineering
* Experience working in a similar Electrical Maintenance role with strong practical skills.
* Ability to work well as part of a team or individually.
* Proficient in the use of electrical schematic drawings.
* Professional attitude and a ‘can do’ approach to problem solving.
* 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
* Experience working within a 'Hazardous Area with CompEx' qualification would be beneficial but not essential.
* Familiarity with PLC’s, automation and the use of AutoCAD would be an advantage
