Overview
Under the supervision and/or direction of a Registered Nurse, performs various duties assisting nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established nursing standards. These duties may include assisting nurses, unit secretary/monitor technician, phlebotomy, or EKG.
Responsibilities
* Provides direct care to patients in accordance with their individualized care plans
* Assists patient with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral care, dressing, grooming, and toileting
* Assist in transportation and transfer of patients, ensuring comfort and safety during movement
* Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to nursing team
* Accuchecks completed as directed
* Accurate and prompt documentation
* Assist with patient hygiene and comfort measures, including turning and repositioning patients to prevent pressure ulcers
* Support patients with feeding and hydration needs, adhering to dietary restrictions and assisting with mealtime activities. Removing trays in a timely manner.
* Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and promote positive patient outcomes
* Completes hourly rounds to assigned patients and anticipates patient needs. Responding promptly to call lights and patient requests
* Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions
* Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing bed linens, stocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness of patient rooms, and preparing rooms for admissions and transfers.
* Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies and procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff
* Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care and hospital procedures
Qualifications
* One year experience preferred as a unit administrative, Nursing Assistant, or Phlebotomist.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

* High school graduate or equivalent
