Our Data Analytics Platform Design team is currently recruiting for an AWS Cloud Designer to be a part of their innovative and tech-focused team to support a variety of exciting IT development projects. The role is Bristol-based and supports a hybrid working model; you would be expected to attend at least 50% of the time.
Our Data and Analytics Platform Design team manages, prepares, and assures a wide selection of data assets to support a diverse group of business areas within our Life, Pensions, and Global businesses. The team liaises with key internal stakeholders from the finance, actuarial, and regulatory reporting teams, alongside various MI, Business Intelligence, and Data Science communities within Aviva.
It’s an exciting time to be a part of our team and business! We are constantly modernising our complex data estate - cloud and data lake are our strategic targets, with business self-service and the concept of Mesh computing also in our sights. Having experience with these specific skills is desirable; however, we are happy to provide the opportunity to you if you have a healthy appetite to learn and develop these skills with us.
A bit about the job:
The Cloud Solution Designer is responsible for translating our functional designs into cloud technology specifications and cloud infrastructure designs. You will support our definition of technology usage patterns for cloud-based technologies and will define and specify the technologies required to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
You will be a key interface between our established platform design team and our colleagues in the cloud infrastructure team.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Interpreting business requirements and defining high-level solution designs.
2. Proposing, evaluating, and presenting design options (key design decisions).
3. Keeping abreast of our IT strategy and ensuring solution designs align.
4. Supporting the definition of infrastructure on which solutions will run.
5. Developing an appreciation of Aviva’s product set and the data sets that describe them.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
You will need to be educated to degree standard or have equivalent experience.
You will be a certified AWS solution architect at either associate or professional level.
You will have shown practical exposure to cloud technologies and experience of specifying how these are implemented, particularly in financial services environments.
You will have extensive experience designing and implementing successful data strategies and architectures in complex, secure environments.
You will possess in-depth and proven knowledge of data management and architecture techniques, along with proven principles of data security.
